MUNICIPIO FLAGS

Puerto Rico has 78 municipalities or "municipios" as administrative divisions. The municipios are grouped into eight electoral districts (which do not possess administrative functions).

Municipios are further subdivided into various barrios (wards or districts) and further into sectors. The municipios elect an alcalde (mayor) and a legislative assembly in the general elections every 4 years.
